John Crowley: What does he do?

Those that know me, know; but those that don’t are often curious, so they ask:

What do I do?

I build websites that rank really really high in Google Searches.

How do I do it?

Search Engine Optimization, or “SEO”, has been my forte for the past year or so; but often times it takes a lot more than that. There are many components in an effective digital marketing strategy. It requires networking, content, Google Pay-per-Click (PPC), Facebook Ads, Social Media Marketing (SMM), Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and of course, on-page and off-page SEO.

Sometimes it sucks and it’s very competitive. There are zero barriers to entry and anyone with a hunger for knowledge can hop on YouTube and learn the ropes. There are dozens of excellent digital marketers, content creators, authority hackers, and SEO’s out there. Many of them are better than me.

So, what makes me different and how can I compete?

Well, I’m also a hacker. I don’t wear a Guy Fawkes mask or code in the dark under the protection of a hoodie. I’m a white hat; I get paid to try and break in before the bad guys do.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have a long way to go to truly be great, but I definitely know what to do, where to look, and how to rip things apart. It’s a different yet similar thought process to search engine optimization and digital marketing; but at the end of the day it’s all about data and the end user. Once you understand how to find and read the information, and how to understand people, shit just works.

I’m always working on a few projects at a time, whether it’s for better or for worse, but the principles remain the same: Make it so one input produces 10x output. Trust me, people will love you if they give you $1 and you bring them $10.

There are a lot of great marketers and SEO’s out there, but what sets me apart and allows me to compete is my ability to find and leverage the information. The hardest part is knowing where to look and then figuring out what it means. Fortunately, that’s the easy part for me.

However, you can have all the 1’s and 0’s you want but that still doesn’t account for human behavior and interaction. Engagement is a major factor and ranking signal in the digital marketing industry. It takes a combination of human behavior and analytics to figure out what people want and need. Being extremely extroverted with an analytical mind definitely comes in clutch.

What are my qualifications?

Well my undergrad was in Business Information Systems (Databases, Enterprise Resource Planning, Big Data, Etc.) and I’m currently wrapping up my MBA with a Cybersecurity Focus (Networking, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Etc.). For my next trick, if all goes according to plan, I’m thinking about going for that PhD in Data Analytics / Data Science. I’m about a year away from that but I can’t stand sitting idle.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out at any time. You can reach me by phone ((530) 592-0931), email ([email protected]), or this cute little Facebook Messenger in the lower-right corner. I would love to work with you or at least send you in the right direction. Yell at me.

Cheers,

J. Crowley
